Cambridge University Queer Players

I co-founded this company in 2017 with the dual aim of increasing nuanced, sensitive depiction of queer narratives on stage and creating space for LGBTQIA+ creatives both on stage and in production teams. The society transformed the culture of theatre in the university environment, as we staged three increasingly ambitious productions over one year and worked with over sixty collaborators. Before graduation, we established a comittee of eight members for the coming year and produced an entire Queer Season to run with historic dramatic society The Pembroke Players in Autumn 2018.

Snow Orchid

'I wanna toast to the past of this family, when there were no Prozacs to make our father such a good man.'

December 1964, Brooklyn. Rocco Lazarra returns home from a two year spell in a psychiatric hospital to his Sicilian wife Filumena and their two grown sons. Apparently a transformed man he seeks to repair the raw emotional wounds of the past. Hope and resentment, love and hate collide in this heartrending drama that explores growing up gay in the family setting.
