5aSide Theatre

5aSide Theatre are a Lyric Hammersmith Next Generation Company who produce new work that explores contemporary mental health. They are an all female collective, with whom I worked throughout 2019.

'Maybe it was one of those Fringe mornings, but this little tale of Orphan Al brought me to tears' - The Scotsman

‘No-one’s coming Al. You have to do the impossible - birth roots and forge yourself into the ground.’

beyond : sugar mice follows lonely protagonist Al as they attempt to break a cycle of isolation and poor mental health. New to London and working an entry level job, Al's only ally is a therapist-come-confidant-come-philosopher called Mouse. But as Al's world starts to expand there's less and less room for Mouse.

I was Director and Co-Producer on the show which ran at The Studio, Paradise in Augustine's at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019. We were shortlisted for The Sit Up Awards for groundbreaking work that platforms social issues and were awarded multiple four star reviews.

While working with the company I aided with fundraising including Jokes and Jives, a comedy and live music night at The Bread and Roses Theatre.
